THRESHOLDS

Created during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Thresholds transforms my studio window into both barrier and lens. From a safe distance, I used a telephoto lens to photograph passers-by through the glass. The resulting images dissolve figures into blurred fields of light and colour, suspended between presence and absence, intimacy and separation.

This series marks a turning point in my practice. Until then, photography served mainly to document process and finished works. With Thresholds, it became a storytelling tool, a means to explore liminality, perception, and the fractured spaces between self and other.

As the catalyst for an expanded inquiry, Thresholds laid the groundwork for Elemento and the series that followed, where fracture, pattern, and transformation became central motifs. It stands as both a record of a global rupture and the beginning of a new trajectory: seeing photography not as an endpoint, but as an opening.
